Dia di Bandera
On July 2nd The Rif Fort celebrated, Flag Day 'Dia di Bandera' with as theme this year ‘Love for Curacao’.
For this event The Rif Fort transformed itself into a Blue & Yellow oasis with decorating flags, while visitors couldn't be missed with their colorful flag shirts.
The kids thoroughly enjoyed the activities such as Face Painting, Bouncing Castles, Fishing Game, Shuffle Game, and much more, while parents could enjoy a relaxing shopping experience, or an ice cold drink in The Rif Fort, or browse the flea market which was set-up on Jonckheer Plein.
Of course the cultural entertainment could not be left out and everyone was delighted by the sound of Trio Krioyo, Curacao's typical Kaha di Orgel, Grupo Carabela and a dancing act from cultural group Mama Korsow.
“Dia di Bandera” was a great success, and is sure to become the new tradition at The Rif Fort as part of the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino.
Queen's Birthday 2008
On April 30th The Rif Fort celebrated for the 2nd time, the Queen’s Birthday with ‘The Magical Kingdom of The Rif Fort’! A family oriented event like no other where everyone was welcome to enjoy a family day with their kids in a safe and less crowded environment.
Kids could enjoy activities and entertainment such as Face Painting, Clowns, Bouncing Castles, Magic Show, etc. for only Naf.1,- per game, while parents could enjoy a relaxing shopping experience at the flea market, which was set-up outside The Rif Fort, or just sit around and cool down from the heat with a refreshing drink.
Amongst the revelers were 8 children from the SGR, a division of “Mgr. Verriet Instituut”, an institute for the physically challenged. Our “Special Invitees”, were invited to partake in the fun and all that was going on. Despite their physical impairment, they were able to join in the fun of the Kids’ Activities and thoroughly enjoy themselves.
A special thank you goes out to our sponsors Coca Cola who provided the ice cold ‘FRIA’ for all kids, “Lito” of MCB Bank and AutoCity who showcased their latest models both inside and outside The Rif Fort.
Judging by the positive reactions and happy faces, this day exceeded the expectations of all those present and last year’s event. Once again another successful event of The Rif Fort as part of Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino.
New Years Party
The Rif Fort celebrated on the last day of 2007... ‘The Big Bang’!
The Big Bang New Years Party started at 11pm and lasted until early hours in the morning. The party had everyone on their feet dancing on the tunes of Happy Peanuts, DJ Paco, Dj Carlito, Juni Juliet and Dj Carlito and made it sold out! This was the biggest party since ‘One Night in Havana’ which took place in July last year in the fort. Once again The Rif Fort was able to bring the ‘good times’ and ambience to The Rif Fort as part of the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino project.
Ghost Village
The Rif Fort celebrated on October 27th for the first time Halloween Party. The Rif Fort was converted into a ‘Ghost Village’.The party started at 9 and lasted until early in the morning. The decoration was made complete by adding the special creepy touch of coffins, a made up cementery and a haunted house. Entertainment was by the local band Rhyddm, Dj Erwin van der Bliek and Dj Paco. The crowd gathered early at The Rif Fort in their costumes and even the rain could not stop the fun and partying. During this party there was an entrance ticket raffle for a weekend stay at Renaissance Aruba and prizes for the best Halloween costume. Once again The Rif Fort was able to come alive.
Saturday Night Fever
After the succesful ‘One Night in Havana’, The Rif Fort followed on Saturday, September 15th with another hit; Saturday Night Fever!
A party in the style of back to the 80’s that had everyone on their feet dancing on the tunes of Happy Peanuts, DJ Paco and DJ Fai-Oz. The crowd gathered early at The Rif Fort, while the party lasted until deep into the night. The decoration of the Rif Fort was completely in the 80’s style, with special light effects and 1980’s model cars that attracted a great deal of interest among car fanatics. On this night there were also three prizes for the the best Boogy Dance. In this way, The Rif Fort was once again able to bring the ‘good times’ and ambience to The Rif Fort as part of the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino project. Stay tuned for the Halloween Party on October 27th in The Rif Fort, which will convert into Ghost Village!
One Night in Havana
The Rif Fort celebrated on July 1st, ‘One Night in Havana’.
One Night in Havana was an event with a Cuban flare with the fort decorated like the old Havana, with Old 50’s Cars, Cigars, and throughout fresh clean linen hanging of the balconies and not to forget the Mojito shots and entertainment by Cuban band ‘Los Compadres’ and Dj. Johnny Brazao.
The party with over 1500 visitors, dressed in their ‘Guayaberas” two toned shoes and Cuban Hats, was one of largest events ever held in the years of The Rif Fort.
The “Cuban” like atmosphere and tunes was for everyone, no matter the age, that was present - a night to remember. Don’t’ hide away those hats and keep the shine on the shoes as The Rif Fort will continue celebrating ‘One Night in Havana’ every year on the 1st of July.
Topping Out
On May 21st Renaissance Curacao held their Topping Out celebration. The celebration took place on the project site in the Garage & Cinema building.
In addition to the employees of Renaissance Curacao, ATCO, Manhattan (Contractors) and Studio Acht (Project Managers) we also had the honor of having present our local press reporters and important leaders of our community such as Prime Minister Emily de Jong-Elhage, Lieutenant Governor Lisa Dindial, Deputy of Infrastructure Charles Cooper and even the Governor Mr. Goedgedrag.
Entertainment was in charge of Trio ‘Los Aveantinos’ and catering by Thelma & Luise Wild Cooking.

Queen's Day
The Rif Fort celebrated for the Queen’s Birthday a weekend full of entertainment and live music. On April 27th and 28th everyone could enjoy live performances from well known local bands such as Rumba Band and Cuban Express. On April 30th The Rif Fort celebrated the Queen’s Birthday with ‘The Magical Kingdom of The Rif Fort’, where everyone was welcome to enjoy a family day well spend with their kids in a safe and less crowded environment.
Kids could enjoy free activities & entertainment such as Face Painting, Clowns, Bouncers, Puppet Theater, Magicians, Dance groups etc. while parents were enjoying the entertainment and a cool drink. Judging from the positive reactions and happy faces, this day exceeded the expectations of all those present. Because of this being a completely success, The Rif Fort will continue to celebrate Queens Day with the Family Event of the Year, “The Magical Kingdom of The Rif Fort”.
